The year is 1987. Teenage automobile enthusiast Charlie has always wanted a car of her own, and on her 18th birthday brings home an old Volkswagen that turns out to be much more than meets the eye: an amnesiac Autobot soldier from the planet Cybertron. Naming the robot Bumblebee, the two develop a close friendship and must team up to stop a potential Deception invasion from reaching planet Earth.
